NJ PLAN is a collaborative initiative that expands access to prior learning assessment programs for students at colleges and universities throughout New Jersey. Prior learning assessment, which includes credit-by-exam programs and portfolio assessment, can help students lower their tuition costs and reduce student debt and accelerate the time it takes to complete a college degree. Prior learning assessment enables students to earn credits for college-level knowledge acquired outside the traditional classroom, including professional and military training, work, volunteering, hobbies and other forms experiential learning.
